INSPIRED BY WILDLIFE AND ECOLOGY
As an artist working in Cornwall, I am constantly inspired by the rugged landscape and glorious wildlife around me – sea creatures of the Cornish coast, native birds and insect life of the West Country.
I enjoy recycling and repurposing materials into works of art, unrecognisable from their original form after I have crafted them into scenes from nature. Stitching and printing are key techniques and reflect my signature style – using plastic bags, sweet wrappers, waste materials, old books and textiles. My iron and sewing machine blend them together to make multi-layered, 'poly fusion' pieces which are then embellished and stitched.
I aim to bring more attention to microplastics within the seas, by re-using plastic wrappers as the main material in my work, which directly links to my long standing interests in environmental concerns.

RARE BLUE CORNISH LOBSTER
Why I'll only create one blue lobster artwork every two years....
I have been just a little bit fascinated with rare, electric blue lobsters for a number of years now. Although there has been recent debate about their numbers increasing, it is generally considered that there is a one-in-a-million chance of sighting or finding one in a fishing net, anywhere around the UK coast!
